Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Nor
has carved a distinguished career path in the fields of economics, finance, and public administration. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in International Finance from the Malaysian Science University (USM), solidifying his expertise in the field. Professionally, Dr. Nor has held significant roles within the government of Somalia. He is currently serving as the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in the Southwest State of Somalia, a position that underscores his leadership and administrative capabilities. Previously, he was appointed as the Chief Economist for the Southwest State of Somalia, demonstrating his expertise in economic planning and policy. His experience extends to the federal level, where he served as the Permanent Secretary at the office of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia from December 2020 to July 2022. In this role, he was the most senior civil servant in the Prime Minister’s office, responsible for managing the day-to-day activities and serving as the Chairperson of the Forum for Directors-General of the Federal Government of Somalia.Dr. Nor’s international experience includes working with the World Bank as a Senior Data Analyst, where he was attached to the Ministry of Education of the Federal Government of Somalia from 2019 to 2020. In the academic realm, Dr. Nor has been a dedicated educator since 2009, teaching Economics, Banking, and Finance courses at SIMAD University. He also held significant administrative roles at the university, including serving as the Deputy Rector for Academics for over seven years.
