Aden Mohamed Nur
Aden Mohamed Nur is a dedicated peace-building and security expert with over eight years of experience in stabilization, humanitarian, and development initiatives. Currently an active member at the Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRAD), Aden monitors and analyzes the complex political, security, and social dynamics in the Southwest State of Somalia and beyond. Aden holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Development Management from Bule Hora University, Ethiopia (2016), and a Master’s degree in International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid from Kalu Institute, Spain (2024). His academic background equips him with the skills necessary to navigate and contribute to addressing the multifaceted challenges in fragile environments. His career includes impactful roles in both governmental and non-governmental organizations. Aden began his public service in the Southwest State government, where he contributed to the Office of the President and the Ministries of Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs. He is remembered for his outstanding efforts during the 2020/21 pandemic crisis. In addition to his government experience, Aden has collaborated with various NGOs, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 2018, Albany Associates from 2021 to 2024, and DAI Global in 2024. This diverse experience has enriched his understanding of the multifaceted challenges and opportunities within peace, development and humanitarian context.
